Man steals nearly $50,000 watch, authorities looking for suspect

BATON ROUGE, LA — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is looknig for a suspect who stole a nearly $50,000 watch from Lee Michaels Jewelry Store.
The incident occured at the Mall of Louisiana on October 1 at approximately 5:45 p.m.
According to reports, the man asked to view the Rolex “Skydweller,” valued at approximately $48,850. Once the suspect had the watch on his wrist, he then asked to compare it to another gold watch valued at approximately $60,000.
The salesperson hesitated to give the man the other watch, at which time he turned to run out of the store. Another employee attempted to physically stop the suspect, but he was able to exit the store with the watch still in his possession. The suspect fled down an employee corridor of the mall located next to Sears.
The suspect is described as a black male, with medium skin tone, clean shaven, approximately 5’10” to 6’0" tall. The suspect was seen wearing a dark green T-shirt and blue jeans.
