HOUMA, LA (NBC33) — A 19-year-old has been arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend, then shooting a man in the leg.
The Houma Police Department reports that the incident happened in the 500 block of East Street on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at roughly 11:30 p.m. We’re told that when officers arrived they found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh. The victim identified Henry Allridge, Jr., 19 as the shooter.
The victim told police that he and Allridge were involved in an argument prior to the shooting.
The victim says Allridge became enraged when his girlfriend refused to leave with him and allegedly punched her in the face repeatedly, choked and bit her on the neck. Witnesses say they attempted to stop Allridge, but he fought them off and allegedly broke one person’s cell phone in the process. That’s when the 21-year-old victim stepped in. Allridge allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him.
Police say the female victim did have visible bite marks and bruising to her neck, as well as busted lips.
Allridge was located this morning and was arrested for Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation, Simple Battery and Simple Criminal Battery. Officials say Allridge had outstanding warrants through Houma City Court for drug charges, theft, criminal damage to property and traffic violations.
Alridge was booked in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
