Man sentenced for trying to meet juvenile in Lafayette for sex
Lafayette (NBC33) — A Texas man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release for trying to meet a 14-year-old for sex, announced U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley on Friday.
Elton Ray Jones, 67, of Zavalla, Texas, was found guilty on March 12, after a two-day jury trial.
Evidence showed that from September 11, 2012 to October 17, 2012, Jones had explicit conversations with a law enforcement officer, who posed as a 14-year-old girl.
Jones planned to meet the girl for sex in Lafayette on October 17, 2012. Police arrested him that day in Lafayette.
