Scott, La — A Scott man has been arrested on drug and battery charges after providing a false name at a crime scene.
On May 21 at 7:56 p.m., Scott Police Officers were investigating a reported shoplifting at a Family Dollar.
Upon verifying the occupants of the vehicle which the suspect (Bonita Hendrix, who was arrested for theft) had arrived in, a male occupant of the vehicle began providing officers with multiple different pieces of identifying information.
The male was detained and read the Miranda warnings by card. The male admitted to giving Scott Police Officers a false name because he knew he was wanted on an active arrest warrant.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Desmond Woods, 25, was wanted for Simple Battery in Acadia Parish.
Woods was placed under arrest and searched. Officers found a zip lock bag with crack cocaine inside in his left pant leg.
Woods was charged with Resisting an Officer by Information, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, and the Acadia Parish Warrant for Simple Battery.
