A Lafayette man on probation for felony drug possession was arrested again after a deputy found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

The incident happened on Friday, Oct. 11 at roughly 3:00 a.m., according to the arrest report filed by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office. The deputy conducted the traffic stop after he observed a vehicle run a red light.

“During the traffic stop [the deputy] observed the smell of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” the report noted. “During a search of the vehicle [the deputy] located 3.4 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $18.02 in the center ashtray of the vehicle, which was in arms reach of the suspect.”

The passenger, Lam Pham, 22, was also questioned by the deputy, but he allegedly provided false information.

“[He] supplied [the deputy] with another persons state issued identification claiming it was his and gave a fake name,” the report noted.

However, the deputy found his real name after he was placed under arrest.

“When questioned about the second identification the suspect continued to lie about who he was; however he finally admitted that he lied about his name,” the report stated.

Pham is charged with Possession of Marijuana and Resisting an Officer. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Prison. His bond was set at $2,000.

Pham is currently on probation until May 2016 for a conviction of Possession of Cocaine (felony). Additionally, he was arrested in October 2009 for Possession of Marijuana.
