A man on parole was arrested early this morning for a shooting that happened in Lake Charles. We’re told the incident occurred during a drug transaction.

The Lake Charles Police Department says the incident happened shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29. Officers were called to the Sunlight Manor housing area on Winterhalter Street. There they found a victim suffering from a gun shot wound.

We’re told the suspect, Ivo Richardson of Lake Charles, fled the scene after shooting the victim by entering a nearby bedroom window of a home with no one in it.

Richardson is said to have then gotten into a vehicle and was seen by witnesses doing so. An officer spotted the vehicle based on the description and successfully apprehended Richardson without incident.

Richardson is charged with one count of Attempted First-degree murder, Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
