At 3:23 a.m. Wednesday morning Baton Rouge Police got a call about a shooting at 2400 Louisiana Avenue. That's off North Boulevard near the Sweet Olive Cemetery.

When they got there, police found the body of a 28 year old man, dead in the street. He had been shot.

The case has been turned over to detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit. If you have any information that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP.

Listening to your story about the man killed on Lousiana Ave. and how a resident was used to such sights as seeing blood on the streets, rubber gloves left behind by the police and the police tape. My question is: Why can't the police pick up their own debris and dispose of it properly? Leaving gloves behind is a danger, they are contaminated and could pose a danger to whoever picks them up. The police should carry a garbage bag in their cars for such use. I would think that would be considered as littering. Maybe we should charge them as they would fine us for littering.
