Man dead after impaired driver causes head-on crash in Lafayette Parish
Lafayette (NBC33) — A woman from Scott, LA, faces vehicular homicide charges after causing a head-on crash that killed a 74-year-old Duson man.
According to Louisiana State Troopers, Blaire Duhon, 22, was driving a pickup truck on LA 342 west around 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. At the same time, Jerry Meaux, 74, was driving east on LA 342.
For reasons still unknown, Duhon crossed the centerline and hit Meaux’s vehicle head-on.
Meaux was unrestrained at the time of the crash, The Lafayette Parish Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
Duhon was restrained and was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
Routine toxicology samples were taken from Meaux.
Troopers determined that Duhon was impaired by alcohol and arrested her for DWI, vehicular homicide, driving left of center, and littering.
This crash remains under investigation.
