THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — A Thibodaux man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly tried to break into a home. However, it was not the first time officers encountered him that day.
“Officers dealt with him on two separate occasions that same night before this incident,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, explained. “The first time was around 6:00 p.m. and he was found in a ditch and was described as highly intoxicated. He was brought to the hospital, treated and released.”
Officers encountered Henry Dickerson III, 59, a second time several hours later.
“He was banging on the door of a home asking people he did not know for a ride to his home,” Melancon said. “Police brought him to his home. As they were giving him a ride, he claimed people were following him on bicycles. They were able to confirm that no one was following him and left him at his home.”
The final incident happened at roughly 2:00 a.m. at a home on Narrow Street.
“Dickerson broke the mailbox off the home and began hitting the door with the mailbox trying to gain entrance,” Melancon said. “He wanted someone to call the police, again because he claimed someone was following him.”
Following the last incident, Dickerson was arrested and charged with Attempted Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
Officers believe Dickerson was highly intoxicated during all three incidents.
