Man attacks female runner in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge Police are investigating an assault on a runner, which occurred Thursday evening around 6:13 p.m. in the 2500 block of East Lakeshore Drive.

Detectives learned that a 30 year old woman was running with her headphones on when she was grabbed from behind in a strangle hold until she briefly lost consciousness.

The woman later regained consciousness and notice the suspect on top of her striking her with his fist in the stomach and upper torso.

The woman began screaming until the suspect jumped up and ran away.

The suspect appeared to be a muscular, black male, 5’8” – 5’10”, 185 – 200 lbs, wearing a reddish – pink colored shirt with dark colored shorts or pants.

The woman did not require medical treatment at the time of incident.
