Lake Charles, La — Today, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Billy Ray Harris, 38, in connection with the murder of a Lake Charles woman.

On Sunday, July 29, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in the 2000 block of E. Gauthier Road after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor regarding a woman found inside a mobile home unresponsive.

When deputies arrived, Raymona L. Gilmore, 38, was discovered fatally wounded inside her home.

After an extensive investigation new evidence connected Harris, ex-husband of Gilmore, to the murder and a warrant for his arrest was issued today.

Harris, who has been incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center since July 28 on drug charges, is charged with Second-Degree Murder. Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $500,000.
