Man arrested for shooting in Lafayette

On April 25, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to a parking lot in the 1100 block of West Willow Street regarding a shooting. The victim, an 18 year old male of Lafayette, was involved in an altercation on a parking lot when the suspect produced a handgun and began firing.

As the victim was fleeing the area he was shot once in the back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries and later released. The suspect fled the area.

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department were able to identify the suspect as Dandre R. Mckinley, 21, of Lafayette. An arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder was issued for the arrest of Mckinley on May 1, 1012.

On May 3, 2012, Mckinley was arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Office.
