On January 11, 2012 Baker Police arrested a man accused of attempting to burglarize a local convenience store. Officers arrested Joshua Hollis Janise, 21, of Baker, after he was caught by surveillance cameras attempting to force his way into the windows and doors of the Murphy Express gas station located on Plank Road in Baker.

Attendants at the store noticed something was wrong after discovering damage to the window. When they reviewed the store’s surveillance video, they observed recorded footage of Janise attempting to break in; which prompted workers to notify police.

Police were later able to obtain the suspect’s address from the license plate of the vehicle he was driving. Police arrived at the residence a short time later, and Janise was arrested without incident.

Janise is currently booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish prison on one count of Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and one count of Attempted Burglary.
