Lake Charles, La — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Compliance and Awareness Unit (CAP Unit) arrested sex offender Ruben R. Escobedo, 41, and charged him with failure to register as a sex offender on April 18.
In March 2010, an arrest warrant was issued for Escobedo after detectives with the CAP Unit discovered he had moved without notifying the proper authorities within three days, as required by law for all registered sex offenders, during address verifications on sex offenders in the area.
After further investigation, it was discovered Escobedo was living in Bridge City, Texas.
On April 16, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, with information provided to them by CPSO detectives, located and arrested Escobedo.
Escobedo, who was convicted of sexual misconduct in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in February 1998, was transported and booked into Calcasieu Correction Center on April 18.
