THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — Not using a turn signal landed a Thibodaux man behind bars for DWI and possession of marijuana.
The Thibodaux Police Department arrested Charles Jason Smith, 33, on Saturday, Sept. 8 at roughly 8:00 p.m. The officer first noticed that Smith allegedly failed to use his traffic signal. The officer then followed Smith and noticed “several” indicators that he was impaired.
The officer then conducted a traffic stop. At that point the officer issued a field sobriety test. Smith allegedly failed nearly half of the test. We’re told it was this point that he stopped cooperating with the officer.
The officer then conducted a search of Smith’s vehicle. Suspected marijuana was located.
Smith was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking. Smith had a BAC of .193g%.
He was charged with first offense DWI, No Turn Signal, No License Plate Light, and Possession of Marijuana.
