Man arrested for burglary in progress

LAKE CHARLES, LA — A Lake Charles man has been arrested for stealing tools out of a homeowner's shed.
On September 13 around 9:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a possible burglary in progress at a home on Tallow Road in Lake Charles.
The caller said he saw a suspicious truck driven by a man, later identified as Gregory A. Jones, 54, pull out from behind the home with numerous tools and equipment belonging to the homeowner in the back of the truck.
Following a brief pursuit, Jones was arrested without incident. Deputies recovered over $2,500 worth of stolen tools and equipment from the back of the truck, including a bearing press, chain saw, an air conditioning unit, and a transmission stand.
Jones was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; theft over $1,500; and simple criminal damage to property over $500. His bond is set at $16,000.
