After a six hour standoff with police, Terrance Hines, 27, was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department Monday morning.
That's after Hines' girlfriend called 911 around 2:20 a.m., claiming her boyfriend beat her up, put a gun to her head and was threatening to kill her. When officers arrived at the home on N 38th street in Belfair, they found the woman in the front yard, with her clothing torn. They escorted her out of the area and she is safe.
Hines held up in the house and did not respond to hostage negotiators, tear gas, or two flash bombs. BRPD deputies, the Special Response Team and K-9’s entered the home around 7:30 a.m. and worked in shifts for the search due to excessive heat. They narrowed the search to the attic, which is where they found Hines.
Terrance Hines is charged with domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment and damage to property - that charge filed after Hines kicked the windows out of a police van. He also had an outstanding warrant for second degree battery against the same woman.
Jennifer Crockett was the only reporter on the scene. Check out her report on NBC33 News at 5 and 10 p.m.
