Man accused of firing gun at passing vehicle arrested for attempted murder

A man accused of firing a gun at a vehicle was arrested and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Saturday, June 1. We’re told the victim was driving down North 38th Street when someone fired a gun at his car, striking his vehicle. The victim heard 6 shots and there were 3 bullet holes in the car.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Witnesses identified the shooter as James Williams, 20, of Baton Rouge. He is reportedly the ex boyfriend of the victim's current girlfriend. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Officers tracked Williams down and he was placed into custody on Wednesday, June 12 at roughly 1:00 p.m. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $110,000.
