ORIGINAL: One man is behind bars and another is recovering from injuries following an alleged robbery attempt at a Shreveport college campus last weekend.
Just before midnight on Saturday March 23, Shreveport Police officers responded to a shooting at the University Court Apartments, located in the 8400 block of Youree Drive on the campus of Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult male victim who was suffering what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the leg. In speaking with the victim, authorities learned that the man, who is not enrolled at the university, was engaged in conversation with a female acquaintance when the pair was allegedly accosted by three men while standing in the complex's parking lot.
During the alleged robbery, the suspects, one of whom was reportedly armed with a gun, ordered both the man and woman to the ground before robbing the man of his personal belongings. The armed assailants, after robbing the man, reportedly shot him in the leg prior to fleeing the scene in what was described as a white four-door sedan.
The shooting victim was transported to LSUHSC for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. The woman, while shaken, was not physically injured. Shreveport Police robbery detectives along with crime scene investigators arrived on scene, immediately launching an inquiry into the incident.
During the course of the investigation, authorities were successful in obtaining license plate information from the suspect vehicle which subsequently led them to a home in the 3100 block of Milam Street in Shreveport. At the home, officers located the suspect vehicle parked in the driveway.
Authorities, upon entering the residence, made contact with contact with Scott Houston, 19. Houston matched the victim's description of one of the three suspects accused of committing robbery. Following interviews with investigators, Houston was arrested and charged with a single count of Armed Robbery and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
As the investigation continues, Shreveport Police are working alongside officials from Louisiana State University Shreveport and are confident that the arrest of the additional suspects is imminent. Anyone with any information about this crime is urged to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
