LSU rape suspect released after being cleared by DNA evidence

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) - — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Police have released a man suspected in the attempted rape of a woman near LSU. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department DNA evidence has cleared Allan Hernandez, 18, of the crime. The attempted rape occurred back on Nov. 22, 2011 outside of the woman's Lee Drive Apartment. A man allegedly choked the woman and threatened to kill her if she made a sound.
ORIGINAL STORY - Baton Police have arrested the man they say raped a woman on Stanford Avenue late last month.
18 year old Allan Hernandez was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, and aggravated burglary.
Police say he was one of several potential suspects that were questioned. Police say Hernandez forced his way into a 26 year old woman's house, then raped her.
Hernandez also remains a potential suspect in a second attack on a 20-year old victim that occurred on November 22nd on Lee Drive.
The investigation is continuing.
