LSU Police find laptop thief

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33NEWS UPDATE: Multiple anonymous tips received from the LSU Community and from Crime Stoppers have led LSUPD Investigators to the identity of a suspect in a felony theft case.
Richard Hamilton Jr., 22, of Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with theft which is a felony.
Thanks to multiple tips received through Crime Stoppers and from the LSU community LSUPD Investigators were able to identify the subject in the still photos as Hamilton. Based on the information received an arrest warrant was obtained for Hamilton.
On Dec. 1, Hamilton was arrested by Baton Rouge Police Department on unrelated burglary charges. LSUPD was contacted and advised Hamilton had been arrested. Hamilton was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the charge of Felony Theft. The laptop has yet to be recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY: LSU Police are looking for a man who they believe stole a backpack from LSU’s campus. Inside was a laptop computer.
Officials say the incident happened on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The backpack was a gold/orange color and was taken from the Music and Dramatic Arts Building.
