LOCATED: Lafayette woman suspected of kidnapping grandson, possibly in Texas

UPDATE: The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office reports that Rebecca Foster turned herself in to authorities shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19. We're told the child was recovered and is in good health.


ORIGINAL: A Lafayette man was arrested today for violating custody orders in regards to his grandson, and now deputies are actively seeking his wife.

It all began on July 9 after the Joshua Lowe, 3, was ordered to be placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services. However, the child’s grandfather, Monty D. Wilson, 54, took the child.

On Thursday, July 18, deputies issued a press release asking for the publics help to locate Wilson. They noted that they did not believe the child to be in danger.

Wilson turned himself in to authorities shortly after 4:00 p.m. However, he did not bring the child with him. He was arrested and charged with Simple Kidnapping.

Now, deputies are searching for the child’s grandmother, Rebecca Foster. They believe she has the child and possibly fled the state. They say it’s possible she’s somewhere in the East Texas area.

Rebecca Foster is described as a white female, 5’7”, with brown hair and green eyes. She is believed to be driving a grey 2008 Mazda Tribute with the Louisiana license plate 524ZFR.

Joshua Lowe is described as a white male, 3’4” tall, 39 lbs, brown hair and brown eyes.
