Local teen dies after being shot in the head

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) —
THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The victim in the Adams Ave shooting has died. Justice Thompson, 17, 1412 North 23rd St, died from injuries sustained in a shooting that occurred on October 16, 2011 around 2:24 am. This shooting is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY (10-16-11): A 17-year old is fighting for his life in a local hospital after being shot in the head. Police say they have no motive for the shooting at this time, and ask for the community to come forward with any information that might help lead to an arrest.
Officers were called to the scene on Adams Ave. in Baton Rouge shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. When they arrived, they found the 17-year-old lying on the pavement and a female who witnessed the whole scene.
Police say the young man was inside a vehicle parked at the location when someone shot at the car several times. An 18-year old female was in the vehicle when the shots began. She was not injured. The young man, however, was taken to a local hospital with a critical bullet wound in his head.
