St. Bernard Parish, La —
A St. Bernard Parish man has been arrested for possession of child pornography on two computers involving 600 child sexual abuse images of very young boys and girls, Louisiana State Police and Sheriff-elect James Pohlmann said.
Roy Joseph Moore, 22, of Violet, had the largest known collector of child pornography in Louisiana, State Police said.
Moore was booked Feb. 15 with possession of pornography after LSP detectives and the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at his residence and located two computers containing the images of child sexual abuse, State Police and Pohlmann said. The investigation is continuing and the total number of photos found is expected to go higher.
Moore, who admitted to searching for and collecting child pornography, is being held St. Bernard Parish Prison in lieu of bond set at $32,500.
Authorities will try to determine where the photos originated, but are also asking that anyone who suspects their young child may have been a victim of Moore should come forward to try to identify if any of the found images. They can call the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501.
State Police said that last Dec. 5 LSP detectives were conducting internet operations aimed at locating persons who possess, manufacture, and/or distribute child pornography.
During this operation, detectives connected with a computer that was sharing numerous images of child sexual abuse from an internet connection deriving from St. Bernard Parish.
Through legal process, detectives learned the computer sharing child pornography was receiving internet service at the location on Daniel Drive in Violet.
On Feb. 15, 2012, LSP detectives and the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant for this residence.
