The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the community in locating a local man wanted for attempted second degree murder.

Blake Johnson, 25, is wanted for allegedly shooting John Dean, 22, of Duson on Sunday, May 6, at The Pontalba Grocery Store located in the 300 block of Marginy Circle around 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Investigators believe that Johnson and Dean met at the store and an ongoing confrontation escalated in the parking lot, Johnson then produced a handgun and fired several shots-one of which struck the victim. Dean was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in good condition.

Johnson was seen fleeing the area in a white mini-van.

Johnson is 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Investigators believe Johnson is armed and may be dangerous if cornered.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Johnson’s whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 232-8477 or their local emergency numbers.
