Lafayette Police investigating shooting that killed one, injured another

On Sunday, July 1, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the parking lot located at 2406 West Congress Street regarding a shooting. When officers arrived they discovered that the victims were standing on the parking lot, when the suspect drove onto the lot in an older model Pontiac Bonneville.

The suspect fired multiple shots at the victims, striking one of the victims, a 19 year old male of New Iberia, in the back and the second victim, a 23 year old male of New Iberia, in the back and leg.

The suspect was last seen fleeing west on West Congress Street.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals for their injuries. The 23 year old victim remains in stable, but serious condition. The 19 year old victim later died as a result of his injuries. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification.
