Lafayette Man accused of beating, raping ex-girlfriend
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — A Lafayette man accused of beating his ex-girlfriend so severely she was left unconscious will appear in a Lafayette Parish courtroom Tuesday morning. Jordan Marcel Carambat, 23, is currently being held in the Lafayette Parish Jail.
Lafayette Police say Carambat followed his ex-girlfriend home to her apartment near South College Road in Lafayette on July 3, 2014. The victim claims Carambat forced his way into her apartment, armed with a knife and a handgun. She claims he began to hit her, then allegedgly sexually assaulted her.
The victim claims the last thing she remembers is being strangled with an electrical cord before losing consciousness. Lafayette Police investigators say, when she regained consciousness she discovered Carambat had left the apartment. The victim was taken to a Lafayette hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Lafayette Police arrested Jordan Marcel Carambat on charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Rape, Home Invasion, and False Imprisonment. Lafayette Police are continuing their investigation.
