LA man arrested in connection with bomb threat at St. Martin Parish truck stop
St. Martin Parish (NBC33) — Joseph Oquinn, 55, of Park, LA, was arrested Monday night in connection with a bomb threat at a truck stop on the Evangeline Thruway in St. Martin Parish.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Monday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office got a call from Oquinn about a possible bomb he had placed at the truck stop.
Police say Oquinn was extremely intoxicated and uncooperative. He refused to give any identifying information to officers.
Authorities evacuated the truck stop and searched the premises. They found a duffel bag, believed to be the suspect’s.
Police brought in a bomb dog to assist with the search, but there was no evidence of an actual bomb.
The truck stop was then cleared and reopened.
Oquinn was arrested and charged with terrorizing, disturbing the peace by intoxication, battery on a police officer, resisting a police officer, and public intimidation
Oquinn was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
