A St. Charles Parish jury found Ricky Bruce, 39, of Luling, guilty of aggravated rape and aggravated burglary on Thursday. The jury deliberated for two hours, according to a statement from the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.

In July 2011, Bruce allegedly forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home where he assaulted her physically and verbally and raped her several times.

The victim later escaped the house and called police.

Bruce eventually admitted to using a drug known as “bath salt” hours before breaking into the victim’s home.

Bruce is scheduled for sentencing on April 1, 2014. He faces a mandatory life sentence without probation, parole or suspension.
