A Baton Rouge woman was arrested for prostitution, and her husband is charged with facilitating the acts.

According to the arrest report, an undercover operation was executed by the Baton Rouge Police Department on Tuesday, July 9. It all began when detectives monitored the website BackPage due to its known use for solicitation of prostitution.

An officer contacted the suspect, Kaelice Smith, 38, via the website. They arranged for a meeting. When the officer arrived at her home on Colonel Allen Ct., she told the officer that she would provide a sexual favor in exchange for $100.

The officer noted that Smith’s two children were in the home when the arrangements were made. However, she told him that was not typical in past situations.

“[Kaelice Smith] stated that her husband, the defendant, just left the residence to go pay a bill with the money she just made from prostituting,” the arrest report notes. “[She] stated that [her husband, Charles Smith, 43] was aware that she was prostituting from their residence and will normally take the kids for a ride when her dates arrive.”

Kaelice additionally admitted that she was in possession of illegal drugs. Officers recovered approximately 1 gram of marijuana, 4 doses of Methadone, and 5 doses of Oxycodone.

Kaelice Smith was charged with Prostitution, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II drugs, Improper Supervision of a Minor and an outstanding warrant for a DWI.

Charles Smith was charged with Prostitution, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II drugs, Improper Supervision of a Minor and outstanding warrants for Theft, Seatbelt Violation, and Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle.
