Houma resident gets into fist fight with homeless man; arrested on drug charges
HOUMA, LA — A Houma man has been arrested on drug charges after being detained for getting into a fist fight.
On July 1, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Houma Police were patrolling the area of Roussell Street and High Street when they observed two male subjects involved in a fist fight.
The officers repeatedly informed the subjects to break up the fight and they refused. Houma Police officers had to physically break up the fight themselves.
After this was done, the subjects involved were identified as Melvin Johnson, 33, and Herbert Matthews, 52. Along with being involved in the fight, Melvin Johnson was observed to be in possession of several hydrocodone pills.
Taking this into consideration, Johnson was arrested for Disturbing the Peace by Fighting and Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS II.
Matthews was issued a summons for Disturbing the Peace by Fighting and released.
