Houma man accused of hitting pregnant wife during domestic dispute

A 32-year-old man was arrested in Houma for allegedly beating his pregnant wife.

The Houma Police Department reports that the incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 30 shortly before 2:00 a.m. We’re told the 29-year-old victim was reportedly being assaulted by her husband, Phillip Maronge, 32.

Investigators learned that that the couple attended a reunion earlier in the day, but when they got home the two began to argue. That argument escalated and Maronge is accused of striking the victim repeatedly and shaking her violently while stating that he was going to “kill her.”

The victim did have visible bruises on her chin and arms. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Maronge was arrested and charged with one count Domestic Abuse Battery (pregnant victim). Officials say he resisted arrested, so he was also charged with Resisting an Officer. He was booked in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
