A 21-year-old man was killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning. It happened after the victim got out of his car while driving in St. Helena Parish.

The Louisiana State Police reports that the crash happened at roughly 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. We’re told the victim, William Iasigi of Mississippi, was driving his truck on LA 43 when he stopped for unknown reasons.

While Iasigi was standing outside the vehicle, a passing car hit him and his open door. The driver of the vehicle sped off.

The 23-year-old passenger of the vehicle and an unidentified person who was walking in the area, drove Iasigi to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators believe the vehicle that caused the crash is a light colored, possibly white or silver, Chevrolet or GMC pick-up truck. The vehicle is missing the driver’s side mirror and may have damage to the front and passenger side.

If you know anything about this crash or the hit-and-run driver, call the Louisiana State Police Troop L at (985) 893-6250.
