Hancock Bank robber arrested

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Cyrus Lester of Baton Rouge was arrested for the armed robbery of the Hancock Bank on Bluebonnet. The twenty-seven year old walked into the location on Tuesday around three in the afternoon. He was wearing a suit jacket and an LSU baseball cap, and an anonymous tip lead to his identity.

Lester was arrested by East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies at his home and was booked into the east baton rouge parish prison.

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: BATON ROUGE, La (NBC 33) The robber approached the teller and handed her a note demanding cash and told her he had a gun. The robber never brandished a weapon.

The teller then gave the robber $1723 in cash, along with a dye pack that held $80. The suspect proceeded to run out of the bank and headed north on Bluebonnet. It is not known whether the dye pack exploded

The suspect is described as a white male, slender build, clean-shaven. He was wearing a black dress coat, a blue or light gray button-up shirt, black LSU ball cap, black pants, black shoes and sunglasses.

ORIGINAL STORY: 04-19-2011 - The Hancock Bank located at 8778 Bluebonnet Blvd was robbed at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office tells NBC33 News that the suspect was wearing a suit and an LSU hat. The dye bag did explode and a K-9 unit is currently tracking the subject.
