A Hammond man was arrested after beating another man's head against concrete.

Remus X. Thompson, of Hammond, was arrested late Thursday after deputies responded to a disturbance call. Upon investigation, deputies learned that Thompson engaged in a physical altercation with another subject. It was reported Thompson began to strike the man in the face numerous times and then began throwing his head against the concrete.

Thompson fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival. Deputies went to where Thompson was reported to be living. Once there Thompson attempted to flee before police caught up to him. Thompson refused to comply with demands and continued to resist arrest once in custody.

Thompson was transported to the parish jail where he was booked with battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated battery, and an outstanding charge for second degree battery.
