Hammond man arrested for manufacturing meth

Hammond, La — A man is behind bars after Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Deupties found items used to make methamphetamines in his home.
On January 16, deputies went to a home in the 10000 block of Gatlin Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked on private property. When they arrived, they attempted to make contact the vehicle’s owner and walked around the area with the intention of locating the owner.
When approaching the residence, they saw several subjects exit the rear of the house and flee on foot. Upon investigation, deputies saw precursor materials used to manufacture methamphetamine in plain view.
As a result, Jeffrey Herrod, 30, was taken into custody and charged with Manufacturing CDS II. Herrod has an extensive criminal history as was recently arrested on burglary charges. He was out on bond at the time of the arrest.
