Two guns were stolen from the Hammond Police Department  during an apparent burglary.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the burglary happened on Friday, August 16 at roughly 6:30 a.m.

Officials say someone broke into a police unit that was located on Hwy. 1054 in Kentwood.

The burglar took two department issued weapons from the vehicle. They included a black Glock model 22 with the HPD Badge etched into the top of the slide and a Remington 870 Police Magnum all black pump shotgun with a 14” barrel.

The weapons have been recovered as of August 20; however, an arrest has not been made. 

Investigators are still processing the evidence collected at the scene and have no details to release regarding a possible suspect.
