BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — St. Gabriel's ex-mayor George Grace will stay locked up until he's sentenced..
He has bank accounts and owns propoerty in Uganda and therefore was considered a flight risk.
Grace's legal team was very disappointed by the decision. They claimed Grace wouldn't try to leave the country because of his ties to his hometown.
Grace was able to meet with his family for fifteen minutes before he was taken back to jail.
He was the last official in an F.B.I. sting known as "Operations Blighted Officials". He was convicted on seven federal counts on Saturday.
He's facing more than 150 years behind bars.
