Gonzales man runs from APSO at scene of heroin bust

ASCENSION PARISH, La (NBC33) — Two men are now in the Ascension Parish Jail on drug and trespassing charges.
Chief Tony Bacala says deputies arrested Irvin Mitchell after they saw Mitchell selling drugs in a parking lot on the night of August 7, 2014.
Austin Roddy drove into the parking lot and immediately drove away after seeing officials investigate the crime scene.
Detectives chased after Roddy on the road and on foot before they were able to arrest him on Highway 621 in Prairieville.
Bacala says Roddy ran from the sheriff’s office because he thought there was a warrant out for his arrest.
Both Mitchell and Roddy were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and currently awaiting bond.
Irvin Mitchell, 32, of Baton Rouge was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with:
- 3 counts Distribution or Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
- Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms
- Failure to Appear In Court
- Possession of Firearm by Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
Austin Roddy, 24, of Gonzales, was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with:
- Resisting An Officer
- Criminal Trespassing
Both are currently awaiting bond.
