A 55-year-old Gonzales man was arrested Thursday night for abusing a woman and holding her against her will.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the 10000 block of Highway 431 in Gonzales for reports of a disturbance.

When officers arrived on scene they knocked several times on the door but got no answer. Police later spoke to witnesses who said they heard a woman screaming from inside the house and that David Caillier was holding a woman against her will.

Deputies spoke to Caillier over a loud speaker and asked him to come out.

After several minutes Caillier came out of the residence and was taken into custody.

Caillier was charged with domestic abuse battery, second-degree battery, and false imprisonment.

Deputies spoke with the victim who said that Caillier physically assaulted her over a period of several hours and threatened to kill her if she left the residence.

The victim’s name, age, and relationship to the victim are not being released.

Cailler was arrested on March 6 and is currently being held at the Ascension Parish Jail.
