DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (NBC33) — The owner of a gold shop is in legal trouble tonight.

Police say they received several reports that Ahmad Asmar was violating secondhand dealer laws. The laws require pawn and gold shop owners to register the names of people turning things in for cash.

Police say an undercover agent tried to sell a gold ring at the We Buy Gold store.

We’re told Asmar didn't ask for ID, fill out any paperwork, and paid cash.
