NBC33 News has learned that former Port Allen Police Officer Jasmione Clark was arrested today. We’re told that Clark is currented being prossed at in the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail for charges of Malfeasance and Second Degree Battery.

Clark resigned from his position with the Port Allen Police Department on Monday, Feb. 27. That was after allegations of violent behavior had been leveled against him.

Back on September 24, 2011, Clark had an altercation with Brandon Whaley, 27, during a traffic stop. Port Allen Police Chief Ken Bates says the incident is just one in a long list of bad behavior for Clark over his two-and-half years with the department.

Clark says the incident with Whaley is overblown and Whaley only suffered self-induced scratches from it.

Clark says his decision to step down had little to do with that and more to do with being tired of the administration not supporting him. This is despite never having been suspended by the department.
NBC33 News will have more on this case at 5:00 p.m.
