Former mayor pleads guilty
Mandeville, La (NBC33) — Former Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price pleaded guilty today to one count of perjury in state court on April 25. Price received a four-year sentence at hard labor, running concurrently with the prison sentence he is already serving on an unrelated federal charge.
The perjury charge stems from Price’s 2008 trial testimony in an aggravated second-degree battery case against businessman Gary Copp.
"The essence of the case is that a citizen of Mandeville was severely beaten,” said Assistant Attorney General David Caldwell. “Eddie Price attempted to use his influence to fix the case, and then got on the stand and lied about it.”
