Hammond, La (NBC33) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a Holden man on mulitple charges stemming from a burglary.
On October 11, deputies responded to an alarm at a residence in Belle Foret Subdivision in Ponchatoula; when they arrived, they found that the home had been burglarized. The sounding alarm must have upset the suspect, having him drop several pieces of jewelry in the yard as he escaped.
Later that day, detectives received word that Allen Baham, 36, had entered a Cash and Gold Store in Ponchatoula and sold several pieces of the homeowner’s jewelry.
Detectives were able to positively identify Baham and began a search in the area for the suspect. Baham was located and detained at a convenient store in Pumpkin Center later the afternoon. Baham still had in his possession several items that were taken from the Belle Foret residence.
After interviewing the suspect subsequent to arrest, detectives learned of several other residences where additional stolen property could be found.
Detectives executed a search warrant at an address on Jefferson Dr. in Ponchatoula. During the search, TV’s, Radios, IPads, jewelry and numerous other items were located. It is believed that these articles were sold in exchange for cocaine. All items are being returned to the rightful owners.
Baham was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Attempted Escape, and Criminal Damage to Property and a Parole Violation.
Baham is a four-time convicted felon. He is currently on a hold at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
