Five arrested for breaking in, smuggling drugs into Livingston Parish prison

Five people now face a million dollar bond after they were arrested for were arrested trying to smuggle drugs, cell phone and other contraband into the parish prison.

Lucretia Simmons, 40, of French Settlement, Haley Howze, 17, of French Settlement, Paul Clement, Jr., 20, of Livingston, John Mitchell Ballard, 20, of Denham Springs, and Michael May, Jr., 22, of Livingston, are accused of committing the crimes over a three day period at the beginning of the month.

Officials say the five cut a fence to gain access to the prison, then brought the items to various inmates.

All five have been charged with Felony Principal to Unauthorized Entry of a Critical Infrastructure, Principal to Entering Contraband to Penal Institution, Principal to Distribution of Sch. I, and Principal to Distribution of Sch. II.

This is a continuing investigation and more arrests are possible.
