THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The woman arrested for the crime is Sharonda Alfrednette Obey, 26, of Lake Charles, La.

ORIGINAL STORY: A shocking scene in Lake Charles – A woman shot two people in the Prien Lake Shopping Center at the Ross Dress For Less store. We’re told the suspect fled the scene and Police gave chase. They tracked her down to a nearby bank.

Witnesses say they heard five gunshots inside the store shortly after noon. There is no word on the condition of the victims. The suspect has been arrested.

Below is an interview with a witness Brittany Robinson provided by KPLC in Lake Charles.

Reporter: Tell me where you where and what did you hear?

Witness: "It’s been so hectic. It’s been about 10 - 15 minutes since it happened [just after noon on Friday, July 23]. I was walking back from the dressing room from the back of the store heading toward the maternity rack because I was pregnant . We heard some lady say 'oh (expletive)', and it sounded like a balloon popped. 6 to 8 shots. By the second shot everyone went to run and knew what it was."


Reporter: When you were in the dressing room where did you run?

Witness: "I was walking back toward the front of the store and I just started running."


Reporter: When you were running did you see anybody with a gun?

Witness: "No. I did not see a man or a woman with a gun I did not see that."


Reporter: When you left the store and entered the parking lot what happened next?

Witness: "Everybody scattered. The police showed up. Everyone was ducking down. The police started doing their thing and taping it off. They are still taping it off. We didn’t see anybody come out after that happened. Everybody was down."
