Father of New Orleans rap artist killed in Central City hit-and-run

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU-CNN) — Family members say the man killed in a Central City hit-and-run is the father of a local rap artist.
52-year-old Tab Virgil was killed when crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, police said.
Virgil is the father of Tab "Turk" Virgil Jr., family members said.
Turk is known for his work with the former Cash Money Records rap group, the Hot Boys, which includes Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and B.G.
Police said they first got a call about the incident just before 4:30 a.m. The body was found near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Robertson.
New Orleans police did not have any information on a suspect vehicle. Police are asking anyone who might have surveillance cameras in the general area to contact police.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Blood and alcohol test are pending.
