CLINTON, LA — Wallace Williams III, 1103 Thomas H. Delpit Road/Baton Rouge La, B/M, has been arrested and booked into the East Feliciana Parish Prison on charges of Simple Burglary, Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Buisness, and Obstruction of Justice.
The arrest was made after the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Louisiana State Police conducted an investigation into the theft of approx $2,500.00 from the Dollar General Store located in Cllinton.
During the investigation detectives learned that Williams, who is an ex-employee, entered the store after hours, opened two of the store safes, and took the cash.
The surveillance equipment in the store was tampered with during the time that Williams was inside of the store in an attempt to erase video footage of the crime.
Williams later admitted to being in the store and attempting to access the safe after the store closed on the night of the theft but denied taking any money.
Further review of the surveillance equipment revealed that Williams also entered the store on at least one prior occasion and attempted to use his alarm code.
When the alarm code didn’t work Williams fled the store, locking the door behind him. On both occasions it is believed that Williams used a key to enter the store that he possessed since his employment there. The key was recovered when Williams was arrested.
It is believed that Williams entered the store on numerous other occasions and additional charges are expected.
Williams is currently being held on a $65,000 bond at the East Feliciana Parish Prison.
