Contract workers called police from a local motel and stated that a company truck was missing from the premises.

Officers arrived on scene and the workers stated that they normally head to work at 6:00 a.m while working in the Eunice area but one of the trucks was missing from the parking lot. The supervisor then reported the truck stolen and they noticed that an employee was also missing from the motel.

The supervisor then called the missing employee on his cell phone several times but never got an answer. The missing employee did not have permission from his supervisor or company officials to take the vehicle during the night.

Approximately two hours later, the stolen company truck was located as it entered back into the Eunice city limits and was pulled over by officers. The missing employee, Michael Word, was in fact the driver of the stolen truck.

Employees then checked out the vehicle and discovered two chain hoists (valued at $450 each) and a 2500 foot spool of coax cable (valued at $4500) was missing from the truck. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to Eunice PD for booking.

Word was charged with felony theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He's still incarcerated in the Eunice City Jail at this time. His bond is set at $10,000.
