A Eunice man is back behind bars after being recently released from prison for committing the same crime. He even left behind his prison ID card when fleeing the scene.

On Thursday, June 7, shortly before 2:00 a.m. the Eunice Police Department was called out to a home on Hazel Street. They learned that Phillip Lafleur, 18, was found sleeping on the flood of the bedroom of a 14-year-old girl. This is the same girl he was arrested and convicted for having contact with in the past.

Back in September 2011, Lafleur was arrested after he snuck the same girl out of her home during the middle of the night. He then stole her parent’s car and the two were attempting to run away together. Allegedly the two were in a relationship.

The couple did not make it far as they were involved in a crash that night, and Lafleur allegedly attempted to flee the scene. He was apprehended the next day and charged with unauthorized entry, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, simple kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, criminal damage, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, switched plates and no driver’s license, a total of 10 charges.

He began serving his sentence on September 30, 2011, but was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail to serve the remainder of his sentence after his mother, Dandaline Sattler, attempted to bring cupcakes laced with synthetic marijuana into prison.

After completing his sentence, Lafleur was released and apparently resumed the relationship that now has him registered as a sex offender. Upon conviction, Lefleur was instructed by the judge not to contact the girl, her family, or go to the home. Not only did he violate that, but investigating officers also found a bag of cocaine from the young girl’s bedroom as well as his inmate ID card.

Lafleur is now charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile (second offense), possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and criminal trespassing.
